This past Saturday during a wedding portrait session in Atlanta I took my couple to a great spot in Piedmont Park to get some sunset skyline photos. As we walked over we saw another couple walk in the same direction and stand right in the exact spot I was about to use. Typically as a photographer I think, “oh great now I have to ask them to move so I can get my photos.” As we stood watching, while I contemplated if they would move or not, the guy started to get down on one knee and I realized “it’s a proposal!” Obviously, I let them have the spot and chose another area for my couples pictures. I had a zoom lens in my bag and decided I’d snap a few quick photos for them and then get their information after the engagement. As they had their moment and I was taking some photos of my wedding couple I looked back over to realize they were gone. I wasn’t sure if or how I could find them so I figured maybe I’ll post a few on social media and other people might recognize who they are. I mean there are only 400,000 people in Atlanta right? To be honest, I really didn’t think this idea would work, but I know if I were them I’d like to have such special photos.

I posted on Instagram and within hours started to get shares. People on Facebook were sharing and many of them were people I didn’t even know. With that momentum I really wanted to find the couple so I went to the most trolled and commented place I know, Reddit.

Within only a couple of hours my post hit over 200 upvotes and the couple was located! I’m so happy to have found them to be able to give them such a wonderful piece of their story.  Thanks to everyone who helped make their engagement even more memorable!
