I’ve loved Dunedin for many reasons, but I’m most impressed by the strong sense of community and care for your fellow neighbor. There is this small town feel where helping a neighbor is pretty much town law. I’ve never felt this more than the day that Dennis and Heather had to change their wedding reception at the very last hour.
Dennis and Heather are the kindest couple who sadly were forced to change their original wedding plans due to Covid. They pushed their date several months later and decided to have a much smaller wedding closer to home. Their wedding was to be held at the Merenova B&B with a lovely outdoor space for their reception dinner. Unfortunately, the Florida weather was not cooperating, and rain was on the schedule. Heather stayed exceptionally calm (yes, I mean that) and in true Dunedin community fashion the owner of the Wild Iris Cafe right next door agreed to let Dennis and Heather have the property including the indoor space for their reception.
Although this wedding was a smaller version of what they originally hoped for I felt that their day was a true example of what weddings really are: the connection and love between people. I got to observe the acts of caring and kindness happen all day long. Wild Iris Cafe flipped their dining room beautifully and I was so excited to be one of the first to photograph a wedding in the space.
Covid sucks there is no doubt about that, but what we’ve learned in the days of 2020 is that Love is not cancelled. Congratulations to the newly married couple, Dennis and Heather!
