Charlie & Shireen – Atlanta Wedding
Where to begin? Joy was, by far, our favorite vendor to work with for our wedding, and was an incredible find. When we began the search for a photographer, we had a few things in mind; cost and someone who seemed comfortable in nature among the highest priorities on our list. Joy exceeded expectations in both of those categories, and so much more. We spoke with her for a bit over the phone, and locked her in for our wedding date as soon as we could. Leading up, she was responsive and professional . On the day of, she and her incredible second photographer Kate showed up on schedule and already had a plan in mind for where and when to take photos. They went back and forth between the bride’s and groom’s suites, capturing all of our best moments throughout the day. When I started to become nervous because hair and makeup were running behind, Joy and Kate stayed calm and reassured me that they still had plenty of time to get all of the photos we wanted.
The photos — I don’t even know how to describe how great they turned out. We held both our ceremony and reception at the Emory Conference Center in Atlanta, and Joy and Kate trekked all over the hotel site with us to make sure we took advantage of the beautiful grounds and the beautiful day, pulling leaves and bugs out of my dress and veil along the way! They even managed to wrangle our big and rowdy families to get everyone in for some beautiful family shots, and Kate even helped my husband (yes, my husband) bustle my dress (of course Joy caught photos of this too!).
Throughout the reception I hardly even noticed Joy around. Some might think that is an odd thing to say, but, trust me, when we got our pictures back, it is obvious that she was ALL OVER that reception. She caught everything we could have possibly wanted her to, capturing every moment of fun and happiness, but never once getting in our way. I have been to weddings where photographers literally made people stand and pose, or do a dance move again to capture a moment, but Joy did not stage a single shot; a true testament to her talent and ability to read a crowd.
After the wedding, Joy kept in touch with us, periodically updating us on her progress editing the photos, and giving us a little teaser on her blog where she wrote up a cute synopsis of the day and posted several photos for us to share with our friends and families. The following weeks passed quickly, and a little over a month later, we had the final product, which included an online gallery, and a flash drive with color photos for print, color photos to share online, black and white photos for print, and black and white photos to share online. She even sent a sweet package to us with a few printed photos for us to begin our collection around our house.
To say the photos are beautiful is an understatement. My husband and I love being outdoors, and she captured the grounds of the Conference Center exactly how we imagined it. She wasn’t shy or timid, she had ideas and took initiative to make sure she made the most of the day. Joy is a true artist, and we are so so so very lucky to have had the chance to work with her. Joy was so incredibly easy to work with, and never once made me feel anxious or worried or like I was being a pain. In the midst of all of the craziness of the day, she found a way to give my husband and I a bit of quiet time together to savor the day and catch some sweet moments. We are so thankful she made the trip up to Atlanta for our wedding day, and strongly recommend that anyone looking for a wedding photographer make the right choice and choose Joy.
10/10, would hire again. Thank you, Joy.
