Admittedly, I tried to avoid Paris. I’ve tried to avoid anything related to Paris most of my life. Not that I hate the city, but it was so cliche that I wanted to be different. I grew up with a mother who gushed over the latest Vogue and wore designer perfume. She even named me, Joyelan, Joy after her favorite french perfume and élan a word that means liveliness. So I swore I would go anywhere but France. Little did I know how much I would come to love it. Without knowing much about the culture, lavender always happened to be one of my favorite scents, chocolate filled croissants are my guilty pleasure, and I can’t only have just one macaroon.
I traveled to Paris for the first time this year, and I loved it. The culture is filled with beautiful design and class. We stayed with a local Artist, ate so many macrons, and wandered aimlessly around the Louvre – it was the perfect Paris weekend.
